Aspects of Our Lives is a one-day workshop taught by Zen Master, Sensei Robert Joshin Althouse on Saturday, April 19th from 9:00 to 4:00 pm at the Zen Community of Oak Park, Empty Sound Temple. How do you bring a genuine spiritual practice into your daily life, in a world that increasingly distracts, fragments and shortens your attention span? How do you counter the corrosive impact of consumer capitalism, militarism and the extensive reach of the media? Robert Althouse says you can transform your home into a temple by evoking sacred space in everything you do, from the way you work, play and eat. In this workshop, he will teach a home spiritual practice that anyone can do, that involves exploring five areas of daily life. Based on the five wisdom energies, these teachings are a powerful way to retrieve and enrich your ordinary life.
All
classes will be held at the Zen Community of Oak Park at 163 N.
Humphrey Ave.
in Oak Park (1 block west of Austin Blvd. And 1/2 block north of Lake
St.). The
workshop cost is $90. Rev. Althouse is Abbot of the Zen Community of Oak Park. A fully empowered Zen Master in the White Plum Lineage, and ordained Zen Buddhist Priest, Althouse has studied extensively in both Zen and Vajrayana traditions of Buddhism with such teachers as Maezumi Roshi, Trungpa Rinpoche, Gyaltrul Rinpoche, Aitken Roshi, Bernie Glassman Roshi and Nicolee Jikyo McMahon Roshi.
