This year during the month of April, the Oak Park Area Arts Council is working with the Village of Oak Park’s Public Art Advisory Commission to present a unique public art project…a poetry festival.  Poems from young poets from D/ 97 Oak Park schools, D/91 Forest Park schools, D/200 Oak Park & River Forest High School and also poems from River Oak Arts, a literary organization, will be stenciled onto the sidewalks throughout the tri-village area of Oak Park, Forest Park and River Forest.  Look for the poems to “bloom” in Downtown Oak Park, the Avenue-Lake area, South Oak Park Avenue, Chicago Avenue, Harrison Street, Madison Street in Forest Park and the River Forest Town Square. 

Selected poems were written by: District 97 students – Zoe Hilbert, Harry Huggins, Keisha Helm, Jeremy Roby and Sophia Stith; District 91 students – Tony Casella, Marianne Fabbrini, Michael Huttner, Adriel Lopez, Jamie Raisor-Quick and Paris Skinner; District 200 students – Zachary Heath, Jr., Kathryn Kleeman, Adrian LeCesne, Itohan Osaigbovo and Abby Van Deusen; River Oak Arts members – Albert DeGenova, Larry Janowski, Patricia McMillen, Jill Pelaez Baumgaertner and Cynthia Todd Quam.
