Whistle Blowers Mom's Garage with Village Property Alleged to
be Stored on the inside and outside of building. (Note
the large stoplight against the wall)
Oak Park Journal photo
When numerous employees were fired from their jobs
in Public Works a little more than a year ago this
was
done by two Union employees who had snitched on
their co-workers. These two men are called "whistle
blowers", and their information led to the dismissals
of
many men, some apparently guilty, but not officially
charged with criminal wrong doing.
Oak Park Journal photo
There was another individual who worked nights for 13
years in this Village sweeping streets. He was
not in
the Plumber's Union 130, and had nothing at all to
do
with any alleged illegal activity which has been reported
from Public Works. When Oak Park police detectives
investigated the allegations against this man, they
have
been quoted as having said, that this individual
" had
used poor judgment in accepting a favor and said that
their recommendation would be he pay $500 in
restitution and a reprimand."
The man was fired, his unemployment contested, his
one year of accrued sick time thrown away, and all
his hard work discarded with no mercy.
The men responsible for this coming to light are now
seeking jobs in other towns and one of them in the
mean time is allegedly keeping plenty of stolen
equipment and property in his mother's garage.
We
were first made aware of this information a couple
of
weeks ago. The photo taken by the informant
is a
couple of months old. We went with our camera
only a few days ago and took a photo of the location
for our own records and nothing has changed.
We will
turning all of our information over to the Village
tomorrow giving addresses and additional items for
investigation. People we have interviewed have
said
that the garage with "no trespassing" signs all over
it
has many items of Village property in it. If
some of
the property was financed with Federal funds it could
take this investigation to a higher level. There
is
evidence that the Village may have gotten this
information earlier and not taken any action.
We will keep you informed when more information is
uncovered. |
