Village Players
Theater

"Crimes of the Heart”
   by Beth Henley
"Highly recommended"   Oak Park Journal

“Crimes of the Heart”
by Beth Henley  runs September 13 until October 13, 2002
at Village Players
review by Ed Vincent

“Crimes of the Heart” by Beth Henley has just opened at Oak Park’s
Village Players.  This is Village Player’s 42nd Season, and they note
that some half a million people have seen their shows of the past.
“Crimes of the Heart” is a show to see, one not to miss, and here is why.
This show has humor, song, dance, and action, in varying degrees..
The  three female roles of the sisters played by Heidi Drennan, Diane
Fisher Post, and Carrie Hunter are so good the Jefferson Committee
should start making more awards in their presses.

Each of these talented young women must have been related to Lee
Strasberg, the father of method acting. Their laughs and tears are brought
forth from their total submission to their played roles, very draining and very
talented.  Their dialect work is on target, and the writing by Beth Henley
touches on many issues of the human heart.  This is a very well written
play ( 1981 Pulitzer prize winner ) and the acting is supurb.

This is a wonderful start of the season for the Village Players and a great
show to see.  There is not a bad seat in the house and Oak Park should be
proud of this work.
